Dub, Dub, Du… Monika’s here for you!
The legendary granddaughter of Slavko Avsenik recently filmed a new music video in our hotels, at the iconic Irish-style Pub Legende, located in the basement of our Ramada Hotel & Suites.
Monika Avsenik’s musical journey was shaped by the rich legacy of her grandfather, as she recognized the depth of his artistry from a young age. Not just a singer, Monika is also a teacher and a photographer. She is a member of the renowned Slovenian a cappella choir Perpetuum Jazzile, and together with her father Gregor and brother Sašo, she co-creates original songs, among which Morda pa nekoč (Maybe someday) is one of the most well-known. Monika boasts extensive musical experience: she has performed with the Slovenian National Symphony Orchestra and the Big Band of Radio Slovenia, provided backing vocals for Jan Plestenjak and Gregor Ravnik, and has even performed a duet with the legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli.
We also had the opportunity to watch the filming of Monika’s latest music video, in collaboration with the Austrian-German group Die Lungauer – “Dub, dub, du.” It is a dynamic video in which the duet tells a romantic story of getting to know each other. Why the title “Dub, dub, du”? It’s a playful word game with a repetitive rhythm that catches the audience’s attention and symbolizes the duo’s rhythmic connection, while the song, set to the lively beats of a polka, narrates the beginnings of love.
The video immediately received an enthusiastic response – within 24 hours, it had already racked up 10,000 views. The filming and production were full of fascinating details and a genuine cinematic atmosphere. We had the chance to admire her makeup artist at work, marvel at the smoke and lighting effects, count all the extras on set, and reflect on how many hours of shooting go into just a few minutes of a music video.
This is not our first collaboration with Monika. Some time ago, she filmed a music video for one of her original songs at your iconic retro disco Kompas, located in the equally named Hotel Kompas.
After both of her visits to our hotels, we are certainly looking forward to potential future collaborations. We are confident that Monika’s musical journey is far from over. Our hotels also still hold many interesting and picturesque corners, and Monika, with her charisma and dedication to music, enriches every project—and every space—she works in.
