Judo on the tatami and under the disco ball
Our little town is hosting a very special sports event this week. In the large multipurpose Vitranc Hall in the heart of Kranjska Gora, you can hear cheers, falls, laughter, and the spirit of sport echoing through the space – that's because 180 young judokas and their coaches from various Slovenian clubs and associations are currently training there. The three days of training may be short, but these energetic little fighters – kids full of adrenaline and intensity – know no rest!
The training sessions of the judokas, dressed in white and blue and aged between 6 and 14, take place on the tatami mats in the hall, which we’ve divided in half for this occasion. In the other part of the hall, guests from the Hayat boxing club have joined them. As a result, the atmosphere in the venue is packed to the last corner with a true martial symphony of movements, flips, and fighting shouts.
Still, the eager young judokas don’t spend their entire days on the mats. Late afternoons are reserved for fun and relaxation at Aqua Larix, where the loudest laughter comes from the waterslide as water splashes in every direction, and from the jacuzzi. Though they’re fighters at heart, our guests also know how to enjoy themselves like true holidaymakers. As evening falls, the pace slows down a bit. A movie night follows, complete with popcorn and Coca-Cola – perhaps the only moment in the day when you can hear them quietly sitting. But only for a short while – because these kids never seem to run out of energy!
And if you haven’t yet spotted them in the sports hall or at the pool, you might have seen them on an evening stroll through Kranjska Gora. Yesterday, they walked with torches all the way to Lake Jasna, where they soaked in the fresh mountain air and the unique ambiance under the stars. But the final night before heading home wasn’t all quiet – it ended on a joyful and high-spirited note with dancing and laughter at a real, authentic disco in Hotel Kompas. The young athletes took over the dance floor and proved that the martial arts moves they perfected during their three-day training camp also work brilliantly under the glittering disco ball!
We are proud to host such young athletes in Kranjska Gora—filling our town and hotels with energy, excitement, and a wonderfully positive fighting spirit. We believe that this training camp will serve them well in the autumn, when many of them will return to Kranjska Gora for the European Cadet Judo Championship. And we’ll be more than happy to open the doors of our hotels and hall to them once again. One thing is certain: when they come back, we’ll be cheering them on with all our hearts!
