Kekec brings cheer and drives away fear

Children’s Week (6th–12th October 2025) this year was celebrated under the beautiful motto Kindness will give you wings, always say please and thank you! Indeed, kindness, warmth, and sincere smiles are what heal our planet. This is especially true when it comes to children. That is why our company was delighted to respond to the invitation from the General Hospital Jesenice, to help brighten the days of children who were staying in the hospital during this week. To make it special, we sent there our Kekec, the mascot who usually brings joy to the youngest and most curious guests in our hotels, to the hospital.

As our Kekec shared with us, the doctors, nurses, and entire staff there are truly amazing! They strive to make every day as playful, brave, and full of warmth as possible for the hospitalized children. And this is exactly what we wanted to support as well.

Kekec therefore brought an abundance of joy to the hospital rooms and wards – a very special kind of alpine happiness. In his satchel, he carried plenty of cheer, laughter, and copies of Kekec on Vacation, a book written and illustrated by the creative young women from our animation department. Together with aunt Pehta, he read to the children a few playful excerpts – about how Rožle was quite the little “troublemaker” and how Kekec pelted Bedanc with “čurčelni” (in case you didn’t know, that’s what cones are called in the Kranjska Gora dialect) – and shared the books with the children for further reading. There was certainly no shortage of laughter!

Moments like these are a reminder to us that business success is not measured solely in numbers, but also in the heartfelt stories we create together with people and institutions in our wider local community. We truly believe that part of our mission is to care for the community in which we live and operate – especially when it comes to children, who deserve a sense of safety, warmth, hope, and courage, even when life brings them to the hospital. 💛
