The Rhythm of the Foxes

The women's Alpine Skiing World Cup competition in Kranjska Gora holds a special place in Slovenian sports history. The Audi FIS World Cup, formerly known as the legendary Golden Fox (Zlata lisica), has for years combined tradition, top-level sport, and an incredible atmosphere of fan excitement. While the first stories of the event were written on its original home slopes at Pohorje, the competition moved years ago to the famous Podkoren slope, which has become a new, yet equally respected, home for this prestigious event.

Immediately after the New Year, the world’s best female skiers gathered in Kranjska Gora to compete in giant slalom and slalom. Focus, determination, and that true competitive passion that comes with fighting for World Cup points were palpable among them. During this time, we had the pleasure of hosting them at our most “sporty” hotel – Hotel Kompas, known as a place where the pulse of competition naturally blends with the excitement of cheering fans.

This year, our hotel welcomed as many as 120 competitors, the former “little foxes,” as we affectionately called them in the past – a nickname we still use with fondness today. During these days, Hotel Kompas became more than just a place to stay – it turned into a space for meetings, preparation, anticipation, and joy. A place where top-level sport meets hospitality, professionalism, and the warmth that an event of this magnitude demands.

The competition is traditionally accompanied by a rich entertainment program, taking place on our grounds between Hotel Kompas and Ramada Resort. The lively atmosphere delights not only the athletes and their teams but also our hotel guests and numerous passersby, drawn in by the energy of the World Cup and the irresistible aromas from our food stalls. Every visitor enjoys the carefully prepared culinary offerings of our team, whose presence plays a key role in creating the vibrant event atmosphere.

Our catering team was also actively involved in the VIP tents at the competition venue itself, a tradition that has grown and been expanded year after year. This year, we were especially honored to provide hospitality for two VIP tents, marking an important step forward compared to previous years.here.

In parallel, hand in hand with the sporting events, our hotels also hosted entrepreneurs as part of the SPIRIT event, where engaging conversations, presentations, and a diverse artistic and cultural program took place in the hotel’s event halls. In this way, during the World Cup, our hotels became a meeting point for sport, business, culture, and social life, once again placing Kranjska Gora at the center of the action each year.
